From design to delivery: five enablers for effective European supervision

European capital markets are on the verge of a major transformation, driven by the momentum created by the Draghi and Letta reports to strengthen their contribution to financing the European Union’s strategic objectives. Under the proposed Market Integration and Supervision Package (MISP), ESMA would evolve from a primarily policy-driven institution into a genuine European supervisor, marking a shift from the design of frameworks and supervisory convergence to their implementation.

The AFM and the AMF strongly support this transformation. As discussions on the future of European capital markets continue, they have identified five key enablers that are essential for effective and credible centralised supervision at EU level.
