Appointment to the AMF Board

Claude Nocquet has been appointed to the Board of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers by the first president of the Court of Cassation.

Appointed on 8 February 2017 by the first president of the Court of Cassation, Claude Nocquet joined the Board of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) on 25 February 2017.
Mrs Nocquet also joins the AMF Retail Investors Consultative Commission as vice chairman.

A graduate of the Ecole nationale de la magistrature (ENM), Mrs Nocquet was a magistrate in the central administration of the Ministry of Justice from 1973 to 1986. She was then appointed first investigating judge of the Paris Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI), then vice president of the TGI in 1989 and first vice president in 1997. A judge at the Court of Cassation from 2003 to 2015, Mrs Nocquet was also chairman of the AMF Enforcement Committee from 2011 to 2013. Since January 2015, she has been president of the Investigative Commission of the French Court of Justice.

Mrs Nocquet replaces Martine Ract-Madoux, honorary judge at the Court of Cassation.

As a reminder, in addition to its chairperson appointed by the president of the Republic for a non-renewable five-year term, the Board includes:

  • three members appointed respectively by the vice-president of the Council of State, the first president of the Court of Cassation, and the first president of the Court of Audit;
  • three members appointed respectively by the president of the Senate, the president of the National Assembly and the president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council;
  • a representative of the Banque de France appointed by the governor;
  • the president of the Autorité des Normes Comptables;
  • seven members appointed by the minister of the economy.

The terms of the Board members, except for the representative of the Banque de France and the president of the ANC, are five years and may be renewed once.
