AI enthusiasts, the AMF challenges you
For the third consecutive year, on January 6th, 2023, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers launched a new challenge aimed at students and young researchers through the specialized platform of the Ecole Normale Supérieure. The goal is to generate innovative proposals in the field of artificial intelligence that can contribute to its future work.
A challenge open to all
The AMF has launched a challenge related to its data processing issues. This initiative is part of the regulator's approach to anchoring data and artificial intelligence tools in its long-term operations.
The regulator has proposed that interested parties reflect on "The curse of the table of contents": starting from the text and associated metadata of the annual financial reports of listed companies, the challenge is to develop an artificial intelligence model capable of reconstructing the table of contents of the documents. This table then allows the machine to know which part of the document should be analyzed according to the information sought, instead of having to browse through the entire document (which would be more expensive and could also make the model less efficient). This problem seems simple, but is made complex by the absence of tags in the submitted documents.
Participation in this competition is open to everyone. Among the participants, there are specialists (data scientists and financial engineers) as well as students from various backgrounds.
The ENS Data Challenge
The Data Challenge platform was created in 2018 at the initiative of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Collège de France. The AMF is delighted to have seen its challenge chosen alongside financial actors, large industrial groups, and innovative startups. In 2023, the platform has more than 12,000 registered individual participants.
