The AMF is recognized by INATBA for Its Innovative Approach to Digital Asset Regulation

The AMF has received the award for the most innovative approach to digital asset regulation, presented by the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA). This award highlights the AMF's efforts to support transformations in the financial sector in the areas of crypto-assets and decentralised finance.

As part of its "Impact 2027" strategy, the AMF has committed to identifying key innovation challenges and fostering development in a secure framework for investors, while maintaining a close dialogue with ecosystem players.

Created in 2019 by the European Commission, INATBA works to promote the adoption of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies (DLT) globally and participates in the development of crypto-asset market regulations (MiCA). It has also established a governmental advisory body that includes several public organizations such as the European Commission, as well as European and third-country authorities.

INATBA announced the presentation of the award to the AMF, commenting that its “comprehensive approach to licensing reflects its commitment to fostering a secure and innovative digital asset ecosystem in France, Europe, and beyond. Through in-depth research and open consultations on DeFi, the AMF has successfully balanced investor protection with technological progress, setting a benchmark for forward-thinking regulation globally”.

In June 2023, the AMF published a discussion paper on the regulatory challenges of DeFi and solicited stakeholder contributions to help outline an appropriate regulatory response, with the summary of feedback obtained being published in July 2024. The AMF intends to continue its discussions with the ecosystem, with a view to enabling the emergence of a regulatory framework conducive to a balanced development of decentralised finance.

Since the adoption of the 2019 Pacte Law, which introduced a legislative framework for crypto-assets in France, the AMF has registered over a hundred digital asset service providers (DASPs) and issued four licenses. The MiCA regulation, which came into force on December 30, 2024, for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), creates a demanding and common regulatory framework across the European Union, ensuring better consideration of investor protection.
