A Tribute to Marine Corrieras

The Autorité des Marchés Financiers, which Marine served for 26 years in the Corporate Finance Division, would like to pay tribute to the wonderful colleague she was.

Marine played a pivotal role in overseeing companies listed in Paris, consistently demonstrating exceptional availability, commitment and dedication in supporting these companies.

Above all, Marine was the architect and main author of the AMF report on corporate governance and executive remuneration, which has made a significant contribution to improving governance practices in the Paris financial centre over the last twenty years and which, would never have been published without her determination.

She leaves behind a remarkable legacy - thousands of pages of guides, reports and doctrine, thoughtfully crafted to endure, and sure to inform and inspire generations to come.

The tributes that are pouring in from beyond our organisation bear witness to Marine's unique place in the world of national and European financial regulation as a “grande dame” of shareholder engagement and governance.

Marine had a deep love for the AMF. In its public-interest mission, she found an indelible trace of her own values: independence of spirit, unwavering integrity, and the prevalence of the public interest over individual or personal interests, courage and the defence of the weak against the strong.

All at the AMF loved Marine deeply. Beyond her eclectic intelligence, we loved her humility, her authenticity, her sense of public service and of service in general, her kindness, her generosity, her noble heart, all qualities that are almost unusual in the business world. Most of all, we loved her smile and her deep sense of humanity.

We admired the rigour she demanded of herself, matched only by her indulgence of others. Her gratitude compelled us: she never asked for anything for herself, but rather said thank you, for everything, for nothing, all the time, to everyone.

In the harsh world of business, Marine did not fight on equal terms. Against calculation, intellectual dishonesty and attempts at intimidation, Marine used her concern for the truth, her dignity in all circumstances, her smile and her generosity of spirit.

As well as being an incomparable expert, she was an exceptionally engaging personality whom we all loved.

For all this, dear Marine, thank you.
