Use of inside information: AMF Enforcement Committee imposes its largest-ever fine

In a decision handed down on 18 October 2013, the Enforcement Committee of the French securities regulator, Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), imposed a €14 million fine on Joseph Raad for using inside information about a takeover bid for Geodis by the French railway operator SNCF, and a €400,000 fine on Charles Rosier for having divulged the information.

The AMF’s Enforcement Committee held its sixth annual conference today, Thursday, 3 October 2013, bringing together more than 400 attendees. The conference also provided an opportunity to publish the report by the working group chaired by Claude Nocquet, Chairwoman of the Enforcement Committee, on issuing decisions, executing sanctions and post-sentence arrangements.

AMF Enforcement Committee sanctions LVMH

In a decision handed down on 25 June 2013, the AMF Enforcement Committee imposed an €8 million financial penalty on LVMH. The company was accused of failing to inform the market that it was preparing to raise its stake in Hermès and of having breached its disclosure requirements when publishing its consolidated financial statements for 2008 and 2009.
