The annual conference of the AMF Enforcement Committee is intended not only for financial market participants but also for the legal community, academics and journalists.

The aim is raise awareness of the fundamental rules governing activities within the AMF’s jurisdiction and of how those rules are enforced. Every year, more than 400 attendees participate in a series of panel discussions on specific themes. The topics addressed in 2012 included the enforcement powers exercised by various administrative authorities and the role of the Enforcement Committee in protecting investors.

An annual review of rulings handed down by the Enforcement Committee is published to coincide with the conference.

The Enforcement Committee, made up of prosecutors and legal and financial professionals, has exclusive powers in terms of penalties and sanctions. It can impose sanctions on any person or company whose practices infringe the laws and regulations within the AMF’s jurisdiction. It also contributes to the AMF’s educational role by clarifying the relevant financial regulations when explaining its decisions.
