The AMF appoints Matthieu Lucchesi head of Asset Management Regulation within the Regulatory Policy and International Affairs Directorate
Matthieu Lucchesi, who was previously deputy head of the Asset Management Regulation Division, has been promoted to head of the division, which is part of the Regulatory Policy and International Affairs Directorate.
Matthieu Lucchesi has been named head of the Asset Management Regulation Division, which is part of the Regulatory Policy and International Affairs Directorate. He takes over from Franck Guiader, who has been placed in charge of the FinTech, Innovation and Competitiveness Division. Matthieu Lucchesi, who is 31, holds a Masters in Business Law from Paris Il Panthéon-Assas University and is a graduate of the Harvard Law School. He is a member of the New York bar. After gaining a range of experience working for different corporate and financial law firms in Paris and New York, in 2012 he joined the AMF as a associate in the Asset Management Directorate, where he examined legal issues arising in connection with the authorisation and ongoing monitoring of asset management companies and their funds. He was also involved in the domestic implementation of European legislation adopted in the wake of the 2007-2008 financial crisis, including the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation on OTC-traded derivatives. In 2014, Matthieu Lucchesi joined the Regulatory Policy and International Affairs Directorate and took part as senior adviser in a variety of asset management-related initiatives at both European and international level. In September 2015, he became deputy head of the Asset Management Regulation Division.
Vanessa Casano has been appointed deputy head of the Asset Management Regulation Division. Vanessa Casano, who is 38, is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Bordeaux and holds a Masters in International Business Law and Management from ESSEC. She began her career in 2002 as a structurer of investment funds and funds of funds for Lyxor Asset Management's alternative management platform. In 2005, she moved to CASAM (later renamed Amundi) and was involved in building and launching the company's alternative management platform. In 2006, she joined BNP Paribas' equity derivatives team, first in London, then in Paris, where she structured leverage solutions for funds of hedge funds and participated in developing the prime brokerage offer. She joined the AMF's Regulatory Policy and International Affairs Directorate dedicated to Asset Management in March 2015 as a senior policy adviser, where she was partly responsible for negotiations connected with implementing measures for the PRIIPs Regulation. She has also been involved in a number of international workstreams and represents the AMF on IOSCO's Committee 5 on Investment Management.
